5 Not-So-Obvious Questions You Need To Ask Your Caterer

Not sure what to ask your caterer before signing the dotted line? Not to worry! We have shortlisted 5 not-so-obvious questions you need to ask your catering service.

Do you’ve experience catering weddings?

Seems obvious, but this question hardly gets asked, and usually, gets assumed. So ensure you know if your catering provider has catered wedding before, and more specifically, if they have catered weddings the same size yours before. Weddings are different than other events, so a little experience goes a long way.

Can I taste your menu before I appoint you?

The answer to this questions should be a confident “yes”. But we are always surprised to learn just how many caterers ask you to commit before you get to taste the foods. Even a second-hand automobile salesman will let you test drive that lemon car prior to you purchase it. The tasting may be free, or it mayn’t be, and that is totally depend on the caterer. But the most important thing is that it is offered to you before you sign the contract.

How you’ll present the food?

We eat with our eyes, so presentation is really important. Will your caterer being using aluminium foil trays or stainless steel chaffing dishes? Will the appetizers be horribly hoarded on a buffet table or be bite-sized, easy to eat, and passed? You have paid cautious attention to every other detail of your special day, so don’t leave this one to fate. Ask your catering service to show images of how they present their food.

What’ll you cater my guests with dietary restrictions?

This one is very important. More & more couples are taxed with accommodating guests that are gluten-free, vegetarian, or vegan. Not just do you wish to know if your caterer has an alternative to cater these guests, you also wish to know how these options taste. Aunt Jane should not have a lesser-than meal just because she is allergic to wheat.

Can I visit your kitchen?

A glance into the kitchen will offer you some helpful insight into how the operation is run. Look for a kitchen that is organized, clean, and humming like a well-lubricated machine. If it is filthy, chaotic, and unorganized, you can bet that will bleed over into your event. Don’t let it happen!
